Freestyle

Canine freestyle, often referred to as “dog dancing,” is a captivating and creative dog sport that combines obedience, tricks, and dance into a choreographed routine set to music. During these engaging classes, dogs and their people will strengthen their partnership while learning some flashy new tricks! Freestyle training can help strengthen the bond between you and your dog, build confidence and body awareness, and help reinforce other behaviors like stay, come, and even loose leash walking! 

 

Our Freestyle classes are taught on the north side of Madison, at Dog Dog Daycare. 

Classes are 45 minutes, and include six weeks of instruction.

We love this highly adaptable class for any dog; puppies, seniors and anyone in between of can learn freestyle.

Our Classes


Freestyle Foundations 

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to dance with your dog? Start here! 

This class will work on foundation behaviors such as wrapping around a cone, circling the handler, spins, rear foot targeting, middle position, head targeting, leg weaves, target stick training and more! 

No prerequisites. Dogs who enter this class should be dog friendly or neutral.  

For dogs 6 months old and older.

More Freestyle Fun! 

This class will work on progressing the tricks we learned in the Foundations class, and add a few new ones such as airplane arms, heel position is fun, side switches, jumping through a hula hoop, backing up onto an object, front foot targeting and offering behaviors unprompted.

Prerequisites: Freestyle Foundations. Dogs who enter this class should be dog friendly or neutral.  

For dogs 6 months old and older.
